The most important distinction right away: if you are a limited liability company and want air conditioning for your office, the subsidy does not apply to you. The programme targets individuals, housing cooperatives and owners' associations. Most buildings in Prague 1 fall under an owners' association: and there the scope of support changes fundamentally.
The second condition is the same everywhere: air-to-air heat pumps are supported, i.e., air conditioning units that provide heating. A unit purchased to address summer overheating in an office does not qualify for the programme, regardless of who applies.
When subsidies for air conditioning apply and when they do not
There is no subsidy for air conditioning units designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioning units with a heating function used for space heating.
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.

What this means for a house in the city centre
The most interesting figure is for apartment buildings: an air-to-air heat pump for the entire building up to 400 000 Kč. In the historic centre, where the building's owners' association addresses the move away from gas boilers and simultaneously wishes to cool attic flats, a single decision by the owners' assembly can cover a significant portion of the investment.
For an individual apartment owner, the ceiling for air conditioning with a heating function is 60 000 Kč and at the same time no more than half of the documented costs. The tenant does not apply: the subsidy goes to the owner. And in the heritage zone, consent for the placement of the outdoor unit must be obtained anyway; the subsidy will not speed up either process.
What we provide with the application
- certificate of authorization for handling regulated substances (F-gases)
- technical specifications of the installed unit including the heating factor
- documents confirming installation and commissioning
The grant provider alone decides on the subsidy award. We do not guarantee its approval. We assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.
Frequently asked questions about subsidies
Can a company apply for the subsidy?
No. Eligible applicants for the Čistá energie Praha programme are individuals, housing cooperatives and owners' associations. Installation in commercial premises is paid for by the company itself, however, this does not change the fact that air conditioning with a heating function reduces heating costs.
We handle this as a building's owners' association for the entire property. What do we need?
Resolution of the assembly, documents confirming implementation and technical parameters of the unit. The subsidy is paid only after completion and must not exceed 50% of eligible costs. We provide the documentation for the installation company; the application is submitted by the building's owners' association.
Can I get a subsidy for an air conditioner that only cools?
No. There is no subsidy for air conditioning units designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating. If you are purchasing the unit purely for summer cooling, it does not qualify for subsidy programmes.
Must installation be carried out by a company with F-gas certification?
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise the subsidy will not be granted even if all other conditions are met.
Do you guarantee that I will receive the subsidy?
The grant provider alone decides on the subsidy award. We do not guarantee its approval. We assist with technical documentation and installation certificates.
